You may recall the adorable story of Dion Leonard, a man who was joined by a stray pup named Gobi during a grueling marathon last month in China which went on for 155 miles. When Leonard was working on her adoption papers in Scotland, Gobi disappeared last week. Leonard was totally shocked by the news, and booked himself a flight back to China so he could find Gobi himself.

Leonard walked the city streets where the dog was last seen, in hopes of finding her. He says it was nearly as hard as the 155-mile marathon because strays are not uncommon in that area, but luckily the runners efforts finally paid off. On Wednesday, a local recognized Gobi from one of the flyers and called a relieved Leonard.

“When we got there, I walked through the door and she came running towards me and ran around my legs and jumped up on me. It was love at immediate sight,” he told the BBC.

Leonard still has a lot of paperwork to do but this time he’s not going anywhere without his soulmate. “I’ll be staying here as long as it takes to make sure everything is in place,” he said when asked if he will return to Scotland to await out the rest of the adoption process.

Last month, a stray dog joined Dion Leonard, a runner from Scotland while he was enduring a 155-mile race at a pace of 23 miles per day.

After the stray dog had completed 4 stages out of the 6 total, the Scottish athlete decided to adopt her.
