5 Boozy Cupcakes Recipes for Your Next Party

Cupcakes are an amazing thing, there is no denying that. Alcohol is also pretty stellar. How could we possibly combine these two? Enter in delicious boozy cupcakes! These five cupcake recipes are either alcohol-infused cake or frosting and though they will not get you drunk, they’ll leave you wanting more. Also, once you are done using some for the baking, you’ll have plenty of drinks left over!

Blackberry Cabernet Cupcake

Some of the best Cabernet I’ve drank has had notes of blackberry, so why wouldn’t a cupcake combining the two be amazing? These red wine cupcakes are guaranteed to be a hit.

Cupcake ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp Hershey Special Dark cocoa powder
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) Cabernet Sauvignon +2 tbsp

Cupcake instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix butter, sugar, and eggs until smooth and creamy; add the vanilla and mix well.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the baking powder and flour; add to creamed mixture.
  4. Add red wine and mix well. Add cocoa powder.
  5. Scoop batter into prepared muffin tins and bake for 15-20 min.
  6. Brush all of the cupcakes with 2 tbsp of Cabernet.

Frosting ingredients:

  • 1 cup blackberries
  • 1/2 cup Cabernet
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • Milk

Frosting instructions:

  1. Place blackberries and Cabernet in small saucepan and bring to a simmer. Reduce until blackberries mash easily and wine is syrupy. Strain, pressing on seeds to extract all the liquid. Sauce should equal to a little less than a quarter cup.
  2. Beat butter until creamy. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk until a semi thick spreading consistency is reached. Add sauce.
  3. Add dark chocolate cocoa after frosting is applied.

Stout Cupcakes with Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Of all of the beers out there, stout has to be one of the tastier varieties. And there are few things that go better with a glass of beer than pretzels. I’d suggest an espresso or coffee stout (my personal favorite) to pair with the chocolate.

Cupcakes ingredients:

  • 1 12 oz. bottle stout
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp instant espresso granules dissolved into 2 tsp warm water
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened dark cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda

Cupcake instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In large mixing bowl, combine stout, milk, vegetable oil, vanilla, and espresso.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Add sour cream and mix until combined.
  4. In large mixing bowl, whisk together the cocoa, sugar, flour, and baking soda.
  5. Bake for 18-22 min.

Ganache ingredients:

  • 12 oz. good quality semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Ganache instructions:

  1. Place chocolate in large heat safe bowl.
  2. In medium saucepan, heat heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to boil.
  3. Pour hot cream over chocolate and let it sit for five min. Stir the cream.
  4. Let ganache cool for 15 min. and stir in vanilla. Let sit for 45 min.
  5. Top cupcakes and add crushed chocolate covered pretzels and sea salt.

 

Lemon Drop Martini Cupcake

Cupcake ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tsp grated lemon peel
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp making powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups sour cream

Cupcake instructions:

  1. Preheat over to 350°F.
  2. In mixing bowl add cream, butter, and sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  3. Add lemon peel and vanilla, mix well. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture, alternately with sour cream.
  4. Bake for 25-30 min.

Frosting ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp grated lemon peel
  • 1 tbsp vodka

Frosting instructions:

  1. Cream the butter and sugar in a small mixing bowl.
  2. Add lemon juice, vanilla, lemon peel, and vodka. Beat until smooth.

 

Champagne Cupcake

Champagne doesn’t have to be only for celebrating or New Year’s Eve. It’s a yummy drink for every occasion! Now there’s a cupcake to add even more to the festivities.

Cupcake ingredients:

  • 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 3/4 cup champagne
  • 6 egg whites

Cupcake instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together, then blend into creamed mixture alternately with champagne.
  3. In another large bowl, beat egg whites. Fold whites slowly into batter.
  4. Bake for 20 min.

Frosting ingredients:

  • 3 1/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp champagne

Frosting instructions:

  1. Beat together sugar and butter.
  2. Add in vanilla and champagne in slowly.

Cupcake ingredients:

  •  3/4 cup butter
  • 1 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp orange or lime zest
  • 1 cup Blue Moon or Corona beer
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Orange and/or lime wedges and sanding sugar for garnish

Cupcake instructions:

  1. Preheat to 375°F.
  2. In a medium size bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat together butter and sugar.
  4. Add eggs, beating after each addition, then add vanilla and zest.
  5. Combine milk and beer and alternatively add mixture and flour mixture to butter and sugar mix.
  6. Bake for 18 min. Brush with beer after baking while they are still warm.

Frosting ingredients:

  • 12 oz. cream cheese
  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp freshly squeezed orange/lime juice
  • 1 tsp orange/lime zest
  • 4 cups powdered sugar

Frosting instructions:

  1. Cream together cream cheese and butter.
  2. Add citrus juice and zest and gradually add powdered sugar until well combined.
  3. Add lime wedges as garnish for Corona cakes and orange wedges for Blue Moon!
